In a move set to reshape Nigeria’s downstream petroleum industry, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced it will commence nationwide distribution of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and diesel starting August 15, 2025, at zero credit cost.
This disclosur,e made on Sunday, states that Dangote has invested in 4,000 brand-new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered tankers, positioning it as a game-changer in both fuel availability and cleaner energy transportation.
The refinery has also begun establishing CNG daughter booster stations supported by a fleet of over 100 smaller CNG trucks, to ensure seamless product delivery across Nigeria, including underserved rural areas.
Free logistics, credit for bulk buyers
As part of the initiative, Dangote Refinery will offer free delivery logistics to marketers, petrol station dealers, manufacturers, telecom operators, aviation companies, and other large-volume fuel users.
The refinery is also introducing a credit facility: buyers who purchase a minimum of 500,000 litres of fuel can access an additional 500,000 litres on credit, payable within two weeks under a bank guarantee.
Registration for interested buyers opens on June 16 and runs through August 15, including a mandatory Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process.
Driving economic impact
According to the company, this initiative is about more than just fuel. It is expected to revive dormant petrol stations, reduce production costs for industries, create jobs, and stimulate growth among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
It also aims to lower inflation by cutting down logistics and energy costs, which often ripple through the economy.
“We want to ensure equitable access to affordable energy for every Nigerian – urban or rural,” the company said in its statement published on X.
Call to stakeholders
The refinery has invited all stakeholders – fuel marketers, dealers, manufacturers, logistics firms, and large fuel consumers – to register and take part in the initiative. It says no location will be left behind.
As Nigeria continues to navigate global oil market dynamics and internal energy reform, this initiative could mark the beginning of a more decentralised, competitive, and reliable fuel distribution landscape.
